The Sohlberg Prize 2024

The Sohlberg Prize 2024 is awarded to Professor Teppo Kröger, University of Jyväskylä, Finland

The Sohlberg Prize, a distinguished accolade in the field of Gerontology, holds a position of great esteem within the Nordic community. Generously sponsored by the Païvikki and Sakari Sohlberg Foundation, this prestigious award will be conferred during the 27th Nordic Congress of Gerontology in Stockholm.

The prize is awarded to a scientist active in a Nordic country who is a leader in gerontology with a major influence on the development of his/her field in ageing research. To be considered the candidate should have built a strong research group or initiated research of major importance for developments in gerontology.

Our esteemed recipient, Professor Teppo Kröger, comes from the University of Jyväskylä, Finland, and has been engaged in research on ageing since the mid 1990s. His extensive research endeavors span several decades, marked by leadership roles in both national and international projects. Notably, his scholarly publications delve into critical topics such as eldercare services, benefiting all stakeholders—frail older individuals, their families, and dedicated care workers. Teppo Kröger was appointed Professor of Social and Public Policy at the University of Jyväskylä in 2011. Since 2018, he is the Director and Principal Investigator of the Centre of Excellence in Research and Care, as well as Team Leader of its Research Group ‘Ageing and Comparative Care Policy’.

We invite you to join us at the 27NKG congress, where Professor Kröger will deliver an enlightening lecture during the prize ceremony.
